Tuition
Tuition
Tuition is collected on a semester-by-semester basis, at the time that students sign up. The present rate is $400 per semester course, which may or may not change in the future. Tuition may be paid by credit card (through PayPal) or by check. Keep in mind that if you pay by check, enrollment will be delayed until the check clears. Be assured that you will be receiving a high-quality, university-caliber course and that your money is well spent. The rate is comparable to other competing but (from what I have seen) less complete Latin online web-conferencing courses.

I will do my best to make sure that students are provided with the environment and tutorial guidance necessary so that they may become competent Latinists and hopefully enjoy the process as well.
It is not my policy to provide refunds of tuition unless in response to extreme extenuating circumstances that emerge while it is still very early in the semester (the first two calendar weeks). Examples of such an emergency would be a medical problem that makes continuation of the class impossible or a sudden death of a friend or family member. Since I adhere strictly to this policy, I ask that you please make certain that you are ready to commit the time and energy involved in taking a 45 to 46 hour-per-semester class before signing up. I will be scheduling a certain number of sections based on enrollment numbers and each will require a considerable time commitment from me. If people were to drop from a section in any sizable number, and I were forced to provide them with the accompanying refunds, it would become far less economically feasible for me to teach that section. I will certainly do what I can to help you succeed in this class, to provide you with access to extra help or to help find ways to accommodate special needs you may have, but please, unless your circumstances are quite extreme, do not ask for refunds. They make my management of the class far more difficult, and I would prefer to focus my time and energy on teaching the class rather than dealing with outside exigencies.
